Many months ago, a coworker announced her daughter was expecting her third grandchild. She asked if I would make a baby quilt for the new arrival, of course I happily said yes. She found out it was a baby girl so I started searching for some fabric. I ordered a fat quarter bundle of Wee Wander. I really love the colors and cute drawings of fireflies, horses and flowers. It lived on my sewing table for a few weeks while I thought about what I wanted to do with it. It is so cute I felt bad cutting it up! Then all of a sudden the due date was on my doorstep, so a decision had to be made. I went with Camille Roskelley's Round and Round pattern. I decided to make four blocks and to use the pink and blue colorways of the fabric even though it was for a baby girl. They are such soft blues and greens I couldn't leave them out. I am in love with the finished product, so I apologize for the photo overload of one quilt. I quilted it in an allover pattern with flowers and swirls and butterflies in a soft pink thread. The pattern is called Fable and it's my new favorite. I need another quilt so I can try it again.
The back is a print with birds and little girls on it. The binding is a pink print with fireflies. Thank you for indulging all the pictures. Now it's time for its bath and onto baby Olivia!
In celebration of nice weather I made the season's first pasta salad.
What's everyone up to this spring? Sewing? Cleaning? Gardening? We had our monthly meeting of the Hudson Valley Modern Quilt Guild yesterday. If you're in the area come check us out next month. It's a great group and there's always room for more!
Have a great week!
