How did it get to the end of December? It went so fast.
The first quilt was for Eleanor, who went to nursing school with my Mom. It was her first and only quilt. She chose Popcorn for the quilting pattern. Not bad for her first one!
Next up was Erin's modern quilt for her friend's birthday. Erin wanted straight lines in the ditch and in the middle of each block. It looked very cool when it was finished.
Michelle pieced this beautiful top using shot cottons. It's hard to tell in the pictures but the background fabric seemed to almost glow and change depending on the lighting in the room. It was quilted with a pattern called interlocking squares. The photos don't do it justice!
Nell made this quilt from Apple store t-shirts. It was also quilted with interlocking squares. I was in an Apple store shortly after finishing it and I wanted to show a picture to the girl who helped me and tell her to save her shirts!
This quilt I pieced in an evening from a layer cake I had in my stash. I quilted it in a holly pattern which came out really nicely.
Then came time to enjoy the season.
I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy start to the new year. Welcome 2014!!!
It's been a busy week around here. I completed and delivered my first quilt for a paying customer! Thank you Peggy!
It was a brilliant quilt that she pieced with hand dyed fabrics. She chose a clamshell pattern, or as my daughter called it "fish scales". It came out great. I hope the recipient enjoys snuggling under it.
Next up was Thanksgiving. We spent a great couple of days with my family, some of whom came up from North Carolina. We had a lot of laughs and A LOT of pies.
Now it's on to December and getting ready for the holidays. I am waaaay behind on shopping, but I can't bear the whole Black Friday nonsense. So what did I do instead? Decorate! Nothing like avoidance as a way to deal with your troubles. :)
I do love when Santas begin to appear in my house. I bought this one a few years ago at a quilt show on Cape Cod.
Hope everyone's December is off to a great start!
