A few weeks ago my friend Jody asked me to be her partner in the Supernova Friendship Block Swap. You can read more about it here http://latenightquilter.com/2014/04/29/announcing-the-supernova-friendship-block-swap/. Jody and I met last year at a Hudson Valley Modern Quilt Guild Meeting, and I have been lucky to quilt a couple of her beautiful quilts. She blogs over at www.thevanillayear.com check it out...her writing is amazing. We chose to use Tula Pink's Acacia line with Kona Coal for our background.
We had to lay out fabrics in combinations for different blocks.
I had a roll of some coordinating Free Spirits fabrics, so I will sprinkle these in where I can.
The first block was a little labor intensive, but now that I know what I'm doing they will hopefully go a little quicker.
In the end I really like how it turned out. I can't wait to see what Jody came up with!
Also in the works this week is another simple quilt made out of a layer cake that I bought a long time ago. I think it will make a perfect picnic quilt.
I was able to score some fabric for the back and binding on sale.
What's happening in your sewing room this week?
